The reason why my body is sore tonight, my hand is bruised, and my knee is a bit swollen. But considering Mad fell 842 times and got back up and tried again time and time again I had to skate a bit longer to not let her down after my one and only spill. I wish I was half as resilient as our little ladies! We will be going skating a lot more in Texas too! So much fun, minus busting my ass.

The Dinner Bell
Posted onI’ve heard about the dinner bell from family over the years. About my Maw-Maw’s half sister owning it once upon a time. That even some of my Maw-Maw’s recipes were in the cookbook they sold. But I had never been, until today. We took the drive out to McComb, Mississippi, 80 miles south of Jackson for lunch.
It’s only open 3 hours a day for lunch. They serve buffet style home cooking, but it’s on large round tables that they seat you with other families, that has a large lazy Susan built into it. Since it was seven of us, Paw-Paw & Gigi went with us, we were seated with another family of four and enjoyed the small talk with them. The girls especially loved the rumored fact that they still use Granny Lily’s fried chicken recipe to this day. What a treat to taste a recipe that taste just like their great great grandmother cooked it for them? There were several dishes on that table, including the fried chicken, that tasted just like the food that my Maw-Maw always made.
We had a fabulous time there, and will make a habit of heading out to McComb when we visit home more often.
This little piggy went we we we all the way to the beach…
Posted onGot up early this morning for a quick run the the farmers market with Gigi for some Cajun eggs, Italian cookies, & produce before taking a day trip to Alabama for some fun in the sun.
The girls had so much fun taking turns burying each other in the sand and splashing around. Sweet little Violet rolled around and rooted in the sand the entire time. She slept hard after we got her rinsed off on the boardwalk before the drive back. It’s was a beautiful fun filled day that we won’t soon forget!

Posted onVBS 2017
Posted onWrapped up another fun filled week of VBS with our three sweet girls and their four cousins! It was an amazing week and I loved getting to have so much time with my nieces and nephew! This was Aub’s first year to volunteer for VBS since she’s going into seventh grade this year and she really enjoyed it.
Celebrated our son’s 21st birthday tonight and our grandbabies are spending the night at Maw-Maw & Paw-Paw’s. A perfect way to end a perfect week!

Posted onChores & treats
Posted onAll of our parties and celebrations have come to a end. Okay, sort of. We still have Paw-Paw visiting, and he finally seems to be on the mend. And we’ve still got Father’s day, Aub’s actual birthday, & Maw-Maw’s birthday to celebrate this month. But school is out. No daily alarms to set. No dance classes. No school activities or homework to be done. Unfortunately though, it’s time to get this house back in order and last few things from the party tucked away. The girls seemed to have enjoyed almost a full week of not doing their daily chores, but we tag teamed getting things back on track and our home back in order. So proud of these little dolls for working together with me. No bickering or complaining. I think maybe when daddy gets home we will take them for an ice cream or snowball. Loving our summertime together!
Pajama Wednesday
Posted onPromised my husband I would really slow down, if only for a day after weeks of non stop activities. I’ve got to admit it was long over due. The only things I did today was pick up my coffee. Cook breakfast, lunch, & dinner. Clean the kitchen. Take a shower and put on new pjs. Turns out even our little ladies really enjoyed the down day. It was a perfect pajama Wednesday. I love the way he’s forever encouraging, even if it’s only encouraging me to take a break.
