My Aunt Glo grew very fond of Bitty when she visited us for a few weeks back in June. After a usual chit chat with my mom by phone earlier last week my aunt was bummed to hear I couldn’t find “ruby slippers” locally to go with Bitty’s little Dorthy dress we had custom made for her 2nd birthday party. I had already come to grips with this fact. Since Susie (my mother in law) had just bought Bitty & I matching red Toms for Christmas, I had planned on her just wearing them. Equally cute of course, especially if you know my love for Toms. Then it hit my aunt, knowing Bitty’s party theme is going to be Wizard of Oz, she had spotted a little pair of shoes that made her think of Bitty in a store by her recently. After having my mom casually ask me her shoe size my aunt quickly called the store to see if they had anymore in stock. Turns out they had since gone on clearance and they only had one single pair left…it was Bitty’s size! Gah! So she asked them to hold them and told them she was on her way! Now mind you, this was no simple task. My Aunt doesn’t have a car. She lives in Utah. And it was freezing temperatures there. But this didn’t deter her. My Amazing Aunt Glo walked 4 blocks with her walker in ICE to get this little lady her ruby slippers! Then went straight from the store to UPS to ship them out! She was going to let me be surprised, but after hearing about how much I loved the dress she was worried I would change my mind about “needing” the proper slippers. So she opted to give me the heads up. I could hardly contain my excitement! Though I could wring her neck for walking there in that freezing cold weather for us God love her! She is just a pilar of strength and full of determination once she sets her mind to something. When they arrived I had tears in my eyes, Aunt Glo was right, our lil Bitty did “need” these little ruby slippers! No doubt I will think of this rad aunt of mine every time I look down at my little girl’s feet at her party!20140113-223526.jpg
